Think Victory!
“Today
I have made you a fortified city that cannot be captured, like an iron
pillar or a bronze wall. You will stand against the whole land. They
will fight you but they will fail. For I am with you, and I will take
care of you.” (Jeremiah 1:18 NLT)
I always remember my friends saying a champion was one who won a championship. “Oh, he is a champion, look at all the success he has. He has that shoe contract, the ring, and the bling.”Even in high school sports my friends would call someone a champion based on their talent and their record. While winning championships does give you credibility in your sport, it does not last. For instance, who won the state high school football championship in 3-A five years ago? Ten years ago? Championships are more than just winning the title. No, that is not something people who have never won one say, either. When you look at the NFL there are 32 teams. At the end of the year there will be 31 losers and one winner. I am not saying being the only one left at the end is bad; you should all try to be at the top. I am saying there is more to being a champion than just winning the title.
A champion is someone who achieves their true purpose and has victory in many areas of life. A champion is someone who never quits, because they know that if they do not quit they will not lose. If they do not quit, sooner or later they will see the harvest of all their hard work, just like a farmer who plants his field and takes care of it. The harvest is the satisfaction of a job well done and it is the provision that you needed. Victory is a way of life, a mindset, knowing that you are always provided for, you have special favor, you get breaks that no one else can because you put in that little extra effort, or you treat that person a little nicer than your friends. Maybe you go out of your way to be good to people, maybe you help that student who can’t get the math problem. That is a victorious life. You are a champion of miracles. True champions measure themselves not against trophies, wins and losses, how much money they make, or what clothes they wear. True champions measure themselves by a higher standard; true champions have a mindset that directs their life. They always think positive and think everything is possible.
Just like a athlete, you can learn the plays and the moves to have an edge. The question is, do you really want it? Are you content to sit on the bench, or do you have the courage to get in the game? Get ready for the challenge of your life. We are talking championship living here. Where the stakes are higher, the costs are higher. The winner’s circle is sweet, but it is only for those who achieve victory.
Prayer for Today
Great Spirit, Thank you for the big and small victories in my life. Thank you that even when I do not see myself as victorious you place that image in my heart. Thank you this day that you are bigger than anything I am facing. I choose to live a life of victory and make The Great Lion bigger instead of my circumstances. In the name of the Great Lion, Let this be so.
