Start Small

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand."  (Zechariah 4:10 ) NLT

Have you ever wanted something now? Maybe you are starting a new career, a new family, or a new project around home and you want it to be big and the finished product now. That enthusiasm is running high and you can't wait to see it finished. If we are not careful we can miss the moment of what we are being taught. I know I have the tendency to want to push so hard to make something happen that I miss the still small voice of the Great Spirit telling me what He wants to do.
How many times do we see young couples get married and then want to start on their life now? For instance, "We just got back from our honeymoon, now we have to get that new house, have some kids, get the suburban." I have found that there is a better way to approach your vision. It says in the book of Zechariah to not despise the days of small beginnings. In other words, there is nothing wrong with starting small. Starting that business on a card table in your living room is ok. Starting your family with just the two of you in that small apartment is ok. What you are really doing is what Dave Ramsey calls, "Buying Patience."  I like that. Think of your small beginnings as building a foundation that will not crumble. The last thing I want to do is look back five or ten years from now and realize I built my foundation as a house of cards.
Take the Creators advice, start small, enjoy your life building the foundation. When you do this I believe and declare you will see the Great Spirit take you places you have never seen and do things you never thought he could do.

Prayer for Today

Great Spirit, Thank you for the small beginnings in my life. Thank you that you know the timing of all things. Thank you you are helping me build a lasting foundation in whatever I do and that it is blessed. Thank you for your favor on my small beginnings. In the name of the Great Lion, Let this be so.
