Oughtn't Something Be Done?

"But it happened that as one was cutting down a beam, the axe head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Oh no, my master! It was borrowed!”  The Great Spirit's Messenger said, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, Elisha cut off a stick and threw it in there, and made the iron [axe head] float.  He said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out with his hand and took it."   (Jewish Legend)

[A Year with Aslan, Lewis, 2010]

"AND I THINK, PERHAPS," said Shasta, " someone ought to be told that there's an army of savage Calormenes attacking Anvard at this very moment.""Certain, sure, something ought to be done about it," said the Hedgehog, "But you see I'm just on my way to bed for a good day's sleep. Hullo, neighbor!" The last words were addressed to an immense biscuit-colored rabbit whose head had just popped up from somewhere beside the path. The rabbit agreed that this was very remarkable news and that something ought to be done about it.
.....And so it went on. Every few minutes they were joined by other creatures, some from the branches overhead and some from little underground houses at their feet......who all talked at the same time and all agreed with the Hedgehog. For the truth was that in that GOLDEN AGE when the Witch and Winter had gone and Peter the High King ruled at Cair Paravel, the smaller woodland people of Narnia were so safe and happy that they were getting careless.

Why would the woodland creatures prefer to tell others the news instead of take action?  When have you ever felt so safe and happy that you lost your edge? What were the results?

PRAYER FOR TODAY
GREAT SPIRIT Thank you for your hand of FAVOR on my life. Thank you for the peace that passes all understanding. I know that at times I become comfortable and complacent on my journey. I realize that is you speaking to my spirit that it may be time to add to my destiny. Thank you for helping me to get my edge back when I feel that I have arrived, knowing that I have not arrived until I hear the Great Lion say,"The dream is over, the morning is here. You have finished well, my child."  By the Lion's Mane, let this be so.
